Time and time again

Greenwich, London is where time began. The birthplace of the Prime Meridian, Greenwich lies astride longitude 0˚. Every line of longitude and every time zone in the world is measured against this single point near the banks of the Thames River.

Ventile®, the high-performance natural material that faces the Fisher + Baker Greenwich Anorak was developed for use by another London icon, the Royal Air Force. Originally used to keep British WWII pilots warm and dry after ditching their planes in frigid Arctic Ocean waters, Ventile® will make you rethink what natural fibers can do. Ventile® employs 100% long staple cotton fibers, found in only two percent of the world’s cotton crop, in a revolutionary weave that provides incredible water resistance. The fabric is so effective that it was even used in buckets and fire hoses during the war. At the same time, the natural cotton fiber allows water vapor to permeate with ease, keeping the wearer comfortable and dry, and gives the Anorak an astonishingly soft and supple hand.

The Greenwich Anorak employs another ground-breaking material, Polartec Power Wool™, in its lining. Power Wool™ is a first of its kind natural synthetic-hybrid that combines the warmth, feel and odor fighting properties of Merino wool with the resilience of synthetic fiber. One touch of this incredibly soft and durable material and you’ll wonder how you lived without it.

The Greenwich Anorak recently won Range Magazine’s Radical by Design award for bringing the timeless performance of natural fibers into a modern, stylish shell sure to keep you looking as good as you feel. It’s a perfect piece for the boat, the city or even, as one customer enthusiastically assured us, the ski slope!
